BREAKING BENJAMIN RELEASES NEW SONG FROM UPCOMING ALBUM

Breaking Benjamin has released "Psycho," a new song from their upcoming album, Ember.

In describing the song, founder and frontman Ben Burnley noted: "People have always really liked the heavier side of the band. I think that's what they sort of gravitate towards. But we also make sure to explore our melodic and softer side too."

As far as the album is concerned, Burnley said, "On Ember, we just tried to make it more extreme. The softer side on this album is really soft, and the heavy side is really heavy. We decided to give everybody what they want to the furthest degree."

Ember, which comes out April 13th, is the follow up to the band's 2015 release, Dark Before Dawn.

JACK WHITE BANNING CELL PHONES AT HIS SHOWS

In a recent on-air chat with Metallica's Lars Ulrich...Jack White talked about the use of cell phones at concerts. White explained why he's banning them at his shows. "I really react to the crowd, just like a stand-up comedian would...If I finish a song and go, 'Ta-da!' and it's crickets, I'm like, 'Well, I don't know what to do now. Am I supposed to play a heavier song, a faster song? Do you want me to play acoustic? Do you want me to leave? I'll leave!' But what I don't like is, 'Is that how they really feel, or are they just not even paying attention because they're not engaged...because they're texting?'"

White talked about how there are still places where people are expected to put their cell phones away out of respect, like, movie theaters, the symphony, and church, and said, "I love the idea of rock concerts being punk as hell and there are no rules. I love that. But I don't like the idea that I have no idea what to play next. And I need that. Because I've walked offstage before like, 'Man, I don't know what to do anymore. If this is how it's going to be from now on, it's going to be very difficult for me to play."

White says the response by fans was initially skeptical, but has been really positive overall. He added that he views the cell phone exclusion as "an interesting art experiment."

Jack White's new album Boarding House Reach was released on Friday. (3-23)

KORN WORKING ON NEW ALBUM

Korn's Jonathan Davis has confirmed that the band is working on a new album. In a recent interview, he said, "We're in the process of writing it now."

Guitarist Brian Welch had stated last year, that Davis would be more involved on this next record. According to Welch, Davis didn't show up for the writing process on the last album until they were nearly finished.

This time around, Davis is excited about it and said, "I don't know what it's gonna turn into. But that's just part of the process — we go through writing and these songs turn into different things, and its dope. I love it."

The new album is expected sometime this year, with a tour to follow in support of it.

SIDE NOTES

  • It's been 2 years since Korn released The Serenity of Suffering album.
  • Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch told Good Company last year that the band's next disc would likely be "a combination of maybe both ['The Serenity Of Suffering'] and [2013's The Paradigm Shift]. We'll try some new stuff though, but we're gonna definitely focus on guitars again." Welch noted one thing that will be notably different on the next disc, explaining, "Jonathan, he said he's gonna spend more time writing with us this record. 'Cause he just came in — the last two records that I've been back — he came at the last...like when we were done."
  • Welch added: "[Davis] is gonna come in and be involved with the music. So yeah, I think we'll have a good record, an even better record this time around because everybody [is] involved."
